Episode Notes
We take a break from our credit card series to discuss some current news, mainly in the credit card space. We open with the reports of Chase cracking down on churners, referencing this Doctor of Credit post. We then debate which of the recent AMEX changes is most significant, and then wrap up our credit card news by discussing Discover’s current 10X promotion. We then update what’s been going on in the open skies debate.
If you’ve wondered why we think Trevor is living the life (at least compared to the two Joe Schmoes), come for our reader question where we answer that in excruciating detail! Last Word featuring new service to Australia, our most frustrating shutdowns, the proposed new preclearance facilities overseas, and Plenti of other stuff (okay, just Plenti). Hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording.

Great episode guys. Thanks for addressing my question but ;yes it’s newbie-ish) please more dets please on HOW he’s “living the life”. (earning and burning miles as his full time job? Most income from reselling, or a “real job” that allows him to travel and earn miles?) Related question: what do other major players in this do for their primary jobs/income? Don’t they need to spend the majority of their time on MS and/or reselling?
Good luck to you and your family with the new baby coming Joe!
Jack
Hi Jack, thanks for your follow-up. I think they joke that I am living the life because I generally burn my miles for first class travel. I generate my miles from a collection of reselling, credit card sign-on bonuses, and manufactured spend, not evenly spread, because, whether I like it or not, the sign-on bonuses are a big bump (last year my wife and I got 7 Citi Executives at 100k AA miles a pop!). I don’t travel for work at all, but, I’m lucky that they give me some flexibility to be able to travel a bunch on my own time.
I think you’ll find that no two “major players” (and I’m not sure I’m even in that group), are alike.
I hope that answers your question.
