Episode 54 – Hong Kong, Freddies, AMEX Platinum

Episode Description

Joe Cheung returns from Hong Kong to regale the boys with tales of…Hong Kong. Joe Cortez and Trevor share their biggest takeaways from the Freddies, and we all continue to lay into the punching bag that is the American Express Platinum Card. Recorded 28 Apr, 2017.

Episode Notes

Joe Cheung is back from Hong Kong and he fields some questions from Trevor and Joe Cortez. In particular we discuss what stands out at Hong Kong Disneyland and what are the unique “cha chan tang” eateries in Hong Kong. Macaroni noodle soup, anyone?

We then spend some time discussing the Freddies. Trevor, our man on the ground, talks about his big surprises from this year’s award show and we debate whether AA winning an award is rigged or not. Joe Cortez also has some thoughts.

Finally, we end discussing more “enhancements” to the American Express Platinum card. This time, the business platinum card is reducing the miles rebates for AMEX pay with points from 50% to 35%. Trevor shares some tips about how to take the sting out of it. Enjoy!
